Hi, I’m Kathleen.

I’m a writer and children’s book editor in Toronto, Ontario. After starting my career in educational publishing, I worked at Inhabit Media and Kids Can Press before moving to Owlkids Books, where I’m a senior editor. Occasionally, I write things. Very occasionally, I can be found slinging books at A Novel Spot Bookshop.

Please note that any emails from me about Owlkids, publishing ideas, or potential book deals will only be sent from an owlkids.com email address.

As an editor, I’m interested in books that show me the world in a new way, whether that’s a unique picture book or non-fiction that takes a surprising (and funny!) angle on a familiar topic. I’ve edited books about stars, snot, sleep, and Gertrude Stein — as long as I get to learn something new, I’m happy. In 2024, I was a Publishers Weekly Star Watch honouree.

I live with my cat and several dozen neatly organized unread books. My non-book interests include baking, cross-stitch, movies, trivia, and winter beach walks.

Some of the books I’ve worked on.
